Abstract:
In this work a prototype system for automatic design of cul- tural virtual exhibitions is presented. The system is designed to make use of digitized cultural heritage assets which are suitable for integration in virtual reality systems and applications. The demonstration system re- trieves digital objects and related data from Europeana according to user preferences, creates adaptive virtual exhibitions hosting the retrieved ob- jects and enables users to access the available content. Additionally, the presented system sets the ground for further research on the use of in- telligent methods for information retrieval and content personalization towards the enhancement of cultural understanding while drawing guide- lines for mixed reality, virtual reality and cloud based solutions for digital heritage.
