Facility Location Problems vs Energy Consumption

The solution of the median is the ideal location for the sink node(s) in a wireless sensor network for overall energy consumption minimization. Furthermore, when recharging the nodes of a wireless sensor network it iss shown that this is also a facility location problem. It is also proved that both problems have the same solution.

Energy ratio E(s)/E(s_E) over distance ratio D(s) /D(s_D). Apparently, the median solution for minimizing the overall energy consumption is identical to the solution of recharger base that minimizes the distance covered for recharging purposes in the network.
